Riverdale Fire Chief Chuck Ryan released from Burn Center
Thursday, May 26th, 2011

Story courtesy of Riverdale Volunteer Fire Department

After 49 days in Washington Hospital's Burn Center Chief Ryan walked out under his own power. Chief Ryan was surrounded by family, friends, and coworkers as he waked out the hospital to his waiting ride. His ride was DCFD Rescue 3. Rescue 3 gave Chief Ryan a ride back to the quarters of 15 Engine Rescue 3 in South East, thus returning the entire company back in quarters after the fire on April 8th 2011 that injured 5 DCFD Firefighters.

Rescue 3 was escorted by members of DCFD and Riverdale Fire Department riding on Engine 73. Once back at Rescue 3, members of DCFD and Riverdale Fire Department shared stories and a light meal before Chief Ryan continued his trip home to relax in comfort. Chief Ryan still has a long road to recovery ahead of him but this is the first step or many.

Members and family from the Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad Inc., would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to Chief Ryan and his family and wish him a speedy and full recovery!
