On Friday November 2, 2012 the Greenbelt American Legion post 136 held it's annual public safety awards dinner to honor public safety officials of the year. This includes police officers, public works employees, as well as fire department personnel.
Each year the men and women of the Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS)Department remind our citizens and residents to save lives and limit property damage by promoting working smoke alarms.

On August 7th, Engine 353 and Antique 351 hit the streets for the Annual National Night Out. Both pieces of apparatus visited numerous areas in Greenbelt, providing Fire Prevention information and education to citizens.

Every summer, the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute offers accelerated programs. Despite the heat, long hours and lack of sleep, four new members completed the accelerated Fire Fighter I course. The Greenbelt VFD Family would like to congratulate them on a job well done!

In the early afternoon hours, a combination career and volunteer crew from Greenbelt was alerted to the Checkers in the 6100 block of Greenbelt Road, for a reported kitchen fire. Engine 353, Chief 35A, and Chief 35B responded on the run.

Around 7:30 this evening, units from Greenbelt and surrounding areas were dispatched for a fire in the home with possible people trapped. Engine 353 arrived on scene within minutes to find a middle row townhome with "smoke showing", from the second floor.

March proved to be a busy month, for the members of the Greenbelt Fire Department. Throughout the month, the company ran over 300 calls for service to include: 51 Motor Vehcile Collisions, multiple with entrapment 14 Box Alarms 3 Auto Fires

Just after 0200 hours, Engine 351 was dispatched for a house fire in Company 18’s First Due. Engine 351 responded with five personnel. While en route, an update was given that the house was “well involved”.
