Just before 0600, while members were enjoying a quiet night, Engine 353 was dispatched for an auto fire on the B/W Parkway. While traveling northbound towards Powermil Road, it was clearly evident that the auto fire was going to be southbound on the parkway, just south of the NASA exit.

Today, members from Greenbelt and other volunteers participated in a community wide "gifting" event that provided food, clothing and toys to less fortunate families in the Greenbelt area. Among those in attendance for today's event were Chief 35 (T.

Shortly before 1700, Greenbelt and surrounding units were dispatched for a house on fire in Berwyn Heights. Within minutes of being dispatched Engine 351 arrived on scene with "First Due" responsibilities, and quickly went to work.

During the midst of rush hour traffic, units from Greebelt were dispatched for a vehicle fire near the Inner Loop of 495 near 450. Shortly after dispatch, Engine 353 found a late model truck fully involved just north of 450 on the Beltway.

While most were still sleeping, people from around the United States gathered at the Maryland Trade Center Building in Greebelt, for the Memorial 9/11 Stair Climb. Individual Teams climbed 110 stories in rememberance of our fallen commrades.

Ten years ago today, a crew of firefighters from the Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department took Engine 352 on a transfer to the District of Columbia Fire Department, after Flight 77 was crashed into the Pentagon.

Members from the GVFD gathered with citizens from many different locations to pay respect to the lives lost during the attacks on 9/11/01.

Greenbelt's Volunteer Firefighters and EMTs participated in the annual Labor Day parade, hosted by the city in Old Greenbelt. Over the course of the weekend, members walked around the festivities talking with citizens presenting fire safety information and education.
