CHIEF'S WELCOME

On behalf of the many volunteers of the Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., let me welcome you to our new website.

The Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department has a proud history and tradition which we continue to this day. What started as the Greenbelt Volunteer Rescue Squad in 1946 grew into the Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad in 1955. Today we are a dedicated group of people from various backgrounds who give our time helping those in need.

Our volunteers, along with our weekday career staff, respond to nearly 3500 emergency calls a year. Our crews respond to fires, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicle accidents, and medical emergencies, among other types of calls. In addition, we are proud to provide fire prevention and safety information and demonstrations to the citizens of Greenbelt

The citizens we serve rely on our volunteers to respond in their time of need. We are always looking to welcome new members to our fire department family. Whether as a firefighter, EMT, administrative aide, or auxiliary member, volunteering with the fire department can be a challenging and rewarding experience.
